There's lots of things to do during your visit to Bibury Court and the surrounding area. Here's just a few of them...

Agricultural shows:  Moreton in Marsh Show, The Moreton-in-Marsh Show is a traditional one day Agricultural and Horse Show which is held on the first Saturday in September each year. It is one of the largest one-day agricultural shows in the UK and attracts over 20,000 visitors each year. Distance from Bibury, approximately 40 minutes

Antiques: So many lovely places for antiques including Tetbury, Burford, Lechlade, Stow, Chipping Norton and Cirencester. Not forgetting the monthly auctions that are held in Bourton on the Water through Taylor & Fletcher

Arboretum: Batsford Arboretum & Wild Garden  Moreton-in-Marsh 01386 701441, Batsford Arboretum, one of the jewels of the Cotswolds and one of the largest private collections of trees and shrubs in the Country, set in 56 acres of garden. Cafe/restaurant, gift shop, garden and plant centre as well as seasonal Falconry Centre. Distance from Bibury approximately 40 minutes.,

Arboretum: Westonbirt. Based just three miles from Tetbury in the stunning South Cotswolds, Westonbirt, The National Arboretum is open every day of the year for you to enjoy and during the Summer plays host to live concerts. In the Winter there is a wonderful light display. Distance from Bibury, 40 minutes. 

Badminton Horse Trials, Badminton 01454 218375. The Badminton Horse Trials is a three-day event which takes place in May each year in the park of Badminton House the seat of the Dukes of Beaufort in Gloucestershire, England. Distance from Bibury approximately 51 minutes.   

Beckford Silk, Beckford 01386 881507. Founded in 1975, Beckford Silk is first and foremost a manufacturing company. Designing, printing and making, scarves and ties for heritage outlets and corporate customers and offer a complete manufacturing service from design development to packaging. Distance from Bibury- approximately an hour.

Belas Knap, Near Winchcombe. Belas Knap is certainly one of the most famous burial mounds. It's a bit of a hike to get there but well worth the effort. If you're lucky and you get the site to yourself, maybe towards dusk, then it can be magical. Distance from Bibury- approximately 44 minutes.

Blenheim Palace Park and Gardens, Oxon 01993811091. Blenheim Palace, home to the Duke and Duchess of Marlborough and the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, offers a memorable day out. Set in 2100 acres of beautiful parkland, Blenheim Palace is surrounded by sweeping lawns, formal gardens and the magnificent Lake as well as a maze and adventure play area for children. Bristol , trips to (approximately 1hr 17 minutes). Bristol is the capital of the South West of England. A historic maritime city, full of exciting attractions with events and festivals throughout the year, from waterfront regattas to ballooning spectaculars. There's fantastic shopping at Cabot Circus, fresh food markets in the medieval Old City, stunning nightlife, restaurants and cafes on the Harbourside and some of the finest theatres and concert halls in the country. Distance from Bibury- approximately 50 minutes. 

Broadway Tower Country Park, Broadway 01386 852390. Broadway Tower is one of England outstanding viewpoints and is the second highest point on the Cotswold Ridge. The eighteenth century Gothic folly from which it is possible to survey an area which includes as many as thirteen counties. Burford Garden Company, Burford01993 823117  More than just a  fabulous garden centre, this is a great place to visit for gifts as it stocks a wonderful selection of clothing, local food and drink produce, household goods, antiques and a plethora of other wonderful things.  For Cotswold shopping it has an extensive selection of quality products and is well worth a visit.

Buscot Park, Oxfordshire 01367 240 786. Late 18th century house set in enchanting landscaped grounds containing the Faringdon collection of Art. Distance from Bibury- approximately 27 minutes.

Butterfly Farm, Stratford Upon Avon 01789 299 288. The UK's largest tropical butterfly paradise. Enjoy the unique pleasure of watching hundreds of the world's most spectacular and colourful butterflies flying all around. You can see them feeding and flying in a wonderful tropical environment. Distance from Bibury- approximately 1 hour.

Cerney House Gardens, Cirencester 01285 831 205. Leave the hustle and bustle of today's world and visit Cerney House Gardens, where time seems to stand still. Let old-fashioned scents and colour surround you in this romantic secret garden. Explore the working organic kitchen garden amongst the overflowing borders. Distance from Bibury- approximately 20 minutes.

Chavenge House, Tetbury  01666 504696. Chavenge house is a Cotswold Manor, which has been unchanged for 400 years. Admission Prices include a guided tour of Chavenage. Distance from Bibury- approximately 40 minutes.

Chedworth Roman Villa, Gloucestershire 01242 890256. Remains one of Britains largest Romano British villas, set in the heart of the Cotswolds. Distance from Bibury- approximately 20 minutes

Cheltenham International Festival of Music - 01242 227979. July each year. From Elgar, Delius, Holst and Vaughan Williams to today's leading composers. Distance from Bibury approximately 40 minutes.

Cheltenham Race Course, Cheltenham 01242 513014. The racecourse is best known for the National Hunt festival held in March each year, and includes races such as the Gold Cup and Champion hurdle. Racing, October to May. There is an admission charge that varies. Distance from Bibury- approximately 40 minutes.

Cinemas 0871 200 2000. The nearest cinema is Cineworld Cheltenham. Please also ask about the Rural Cinema Scheme as monthly films are shown in Bibury. Distance from Bibury approximately 40 minutes.

Clay Pigeon Shooting A great group activity and a wonderful way to see the Cotswolds. The Ian Coley Shooting School is based 20 minutes up the road and offers exceptional facilities in a wonderful location. There is a gun shop, shooting school and sporting agency with fantastic driven game.

Clearwell Caves, Near Coleford 01594 832535. An incredible natural cave system tunnelled into by miners for more than 4000 years in their search for iron ore and ochre pigments. Nine impressive caverns with mining equipment and displays. Distance from Bibury- approximately 1hr 22 minutes.

Corinium Museum, Cirencester 01285 655611. Home to one of the largest collections of Romano-British antiquities in the country. Corinium, Roman Cirencester, was the second largest town in Roman Britain. Experience life as a Roman. Marvel at the stunning mosaics. Visit a Roman Garden. Distance from Bibury approximately 21 minutes. Open all year except 23 & 26Dec & New Years Day.

Cotswold Farm Park, Nr Guiting Power, Cheltenham 01451 850307. The Cotswold Farm Park was established in 1971 as the very first of its kind. you may recognise Adam Henson from BBC's Countryfile.  It has since been much imitated and continues to be very popular with animal lovers and children. It's a brilliant day out for all the family. Rare breed animals, lambs and calves to bottle feed, demonstrations, activities, 2 mile walk, picnic area and café. Distance from Bibury approximately 34 minutes.

Cotswold Motoring Museum and Toy Collection, Bourton-on-the-Water 01451 821255. Multi award winning museum for families of all ages with six different galleries. Home to Brum, the popular children's TV character, classic cars, quizzes, old fashioned toys and activities. Distance from Bibury- approximately 24 minutes.

Cotswold Perfumery, Bourton on the Water 01451 820698. The Cotswold Perfumery sell an exclusive range of perfumes and colognes all made on the premises. They hold 45 minute tours once a day. Here they take you through the gardens to see the various plants as well as guiding you through the perfume making process and showing you the various rooms such as the laboratory, compounding room and factory. There is also a gift shop where you can buy the perfumes, jewellery and gifts. Distance from Bibury- approximately 25 minutes. 

Cotswold Water Park, near Gloucestershire/Wiltshire 01285 862962. With over 140 lakes in an area of 40 square miles, offering water sports, wildlife, fishing, bird watching, walking and cycling routes. Open all year. Distance from Bibury- approximately 17 minutes.

Cotswold Way National Trail, Northleach. It's a trail that can be walked in a continuous journey or split up into shorter sections. FREE Admission. Distance from Bibury- approximately 43 minutes.

Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens, Burford 01993 825728. Cotswolds Wild Life Park is for adults and children of all ages. The Park exhibits over 200 animal species in approximatelyimately 200 acres of parkland and beautiful gardens with a fine variety of plants around a setting of a listed Victorian Manor House. Facilities include cafe, picnic areas, adventure playground, narrow-gauge railway, and gift shop. Disabled wheelchair access provided for. A great family day out with plenty to do. Distance from Bibury- approximately 17 minutes.

Fly fishing on the hotel's own stretch of the River Coln, Bibury Court Hotel, Bibury - 01258 740337. The River Coln flows through the village and hotel residents can dry fly fish (trout) during the season on the beat in the garden, which takes two rods at any one time. Giffords Circus, 01451 820 378. This is one NOT to miss. Unique and sends a thrill of excitement and nostalgia through everyone who goes. Giffords Circus are a small traditional circus company who tour with performance artists, musicians, horses and wagons performing shows for families, young and old. Shows last 90 minutes and there are refreshment stalls there as well as a fabulous tented restaurant (which needs booking in advance).

Gloucester Cathedral, Gloucester 01452 528095. One of the finest cathedrals in England and rated as one of the most beautiful in the world - Gloucester Cathedral is one of the architectural jewels of the city of Gloucester. The magnificent 900 year old Norman Cathedral lies at the heart of the city and has been used as magical film locations. Admission free but £5 donation requested. Open all year. Gloucester Docks and the Sharpness Canal, Gloucester 01452 2311190. The former dock estate has become a popular destination where visitors can enjoy shops, museums and refreshment places or just wander around the quays, looking at a variety of historic buildings and interesting vessels on the water. A former house of correction, police station and courthouse is the county's most talked about, most unorthodox, not to be missed historical visitor attraction set in the Royal Forest of Dean. As featured on BBC's Animal Park, Longleat is a Safari Park for all ages with a safari park, safari boats, hedge maze and adventure castle. Safari boats and Longleat House open 15th March to 2nd November daily. Distance from Bibury- approximately 1hr 48 minutes.

Malmesbury Abbey, Wiltshire - 01666 826 666. The Abbey is the Parish Church and dedicated to St. Peter, St. Paul, St. Adhelm and to St. Mary. The Abbey was an important centre for pilgrimage because it is the burial place of St. Aldhelm (first Abbot) and King Athelstan. The abbey house gardens are especially enchanting are one of the most beautiful in England. Open all year (closed a few days after Christmas & New Year's Day). Distance from Bibury- approximately 45 minutes.

Model Village, Bourton- on -the- Water 01451 820467. A model of the actual village built of Cotswold stone to 1/9 scale in 1937. The river Windrush flows under Bourton's famous bridges. The beeches, cherries and chestnuts are all in miniature. Distance from Bibury approximately 25 minutes.

Museum: Hailes Abbey, Winchcombe, Cheltenham 01242 602398. Hailes Abbey enjoys a beautiful setting on the western fringe of the Cotswolds surrounded by wooded pasture. Music Festival: Cornbury Music Festival, The Tews, Oxfordshire. Fabulous annual family music festival with brilliant line ups held over 3 days in the Summer. Distance from Bibury approximately 38 minutes. 

Music Festival: The Wilderness Festival, Cornbury Park, Oxfordshire. 10th -12th August 2012. This year, we follow up with another stunning swathe of artistic experiences intertwined within this unique landscape - banquets under canopies, tented talks, midnight masked balls, barefoot dancing, parkland processions and ritualistic revelry. National Trust: Woodchester Park, Gloucestershire 01452 814213. The tranquil wooded valley contains a 'lost landscape' with remains of an 18th- and 19th-century landscape park with a chain of five lakes. Park Mill Pond is the last of these lakes and features a man-made island that is now a heronry. Distance from Bibury- approximately 51 minutes.

Police Museum, Tetbury - 01666 504670. The museum is dedicated to the history of Gloucestershire and founded in 1839. A number of interesting displays of photographs and equipment show the history of policing. It is open daily Monday to Friday, from 10am to 3 p.m. and at other times by appointment. Allow 1-2 hours visit. Open all year Mon-Fri. Distance from Bibury- approximately 39 minutes. FREE admission.

Polo, Cirencester Park Polo Club, Cirencester. Described by The Prince of Wales as having the charm of a proper Country Polo Club with its understated, unpretentious, relaxed and rural atmosphere, this is a fabulous place to watch polo in the heart of Cirencester, just up the road.

Pottery, Toff Milway- Conderton Pottery, Conderton, Tewkesbury 01386 725387. Saltglaze potter working in a beautiful country setting. Prescott Hill Climb, Nr Cheltenham 01242 673136. Prescott is tucked away amidst the still quite unspoiled Cotswold countryside. Here visitors can view the green hills around or watch competing cars or motor bikes from a number of advantageous points all in a spacious 'confine'. Distance from Bibury- approximately 50 minutes. 

Prescott Shooting School, Near Winchcombe, Cheltenham 01242 673542. Prescott shooting specialises in providing the ultimate shooting experience at their shooting school in the Cotswolds. Railways, Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway, Toddington 01242 621405. The line offers a scenic 20 mile route between Toddington and Cheltenham Racecourse. Open April - Dec, weekends, bank holidays and some weekdays. There is a rather special Father Christmas train held throughout December for which tickets must be booked. Free admission, train fares extra. Distance from Bibury- approximately 46 minutes.

Roman Baths, Bath 01225 477785. The Romans built the finest religious spa in Northern Europe. This great temple and bathing complex still flows with natural hot water and its extensive remains lie beneath the centre of Bath. Brand new displays, costume characters and free audioguides in 8 languages. Open all year except 25 &26 Dec. Distance from Bibury- approximately 1hr 23 minutes.

Royal International Air Tattoo, Fairford. The world's largest military airshow and a great family day out! The air show held annually at RAF Fairford is organised by the Royal Air Force Charitable Trust Enterprises who also stage the RAF in concert tour and produce their own aviation related gift collection. Distance from Bibury approximately 8 minutes.

Also, Asthall Manor has a summer garden exhibition of sculpture each year.  The Fresh Air outdoor exhibition at Quenington is held on a bi-annual basis and is not to be missed.

Sezincote House and Garden, Moreton in Marsh 1386 700444. Sezincote is a unique and extraordinary Indian house set amidst the Cotswold Hills. Built in 1810 by Charles Cockerell, who had worked in India, there is a central dome, peacock tail windows and pavilions. Sezincote was the inspiration for the Brighton Pavilion. Distance from Bibury- approximately 36 minutes.

Shopping in the Cotswolds is part of the delight of being in this most beautiful part of the UK which still lives up to its Arts and Crafts heritage in Cirencester (approximately 20 minutes) and lots of other local shops. You will find many antique shops at Stow on the Wold (approximately 30 minutes) and Tetbury (approximately 40 minutes) selling a wide variety of authentic furniture, ceramic ware, and items very typical of the ancient past of the Cotswolds region. There is also fashionable clothes and gift shopping in Regency Cheltenham (approximately 40 minutes) and high quality items at Prince Charles' Highgrove shop in Tetbury. Not forgetting the fabulous Bicester Village Outlet where a whole day can be spent browsing the designer outlets (approx. 55 minutes).

Snowshill Lavender Farm, Snowshill, Seasonal for the lavender crop, these fields are amazing to sea as they blaze colour across the Cotswolds with many different varieties.

Stanway House and Fountain, Cheltenham 01386 584528. Stanway House, situated near Winchcombe in the glorious Gloucestershire countryside, has been described by Fodor's Guide as 'as perfect and pretty a Cotswold manor house as anyone is likely to see'. Stanway house is a charming, lived in, golden stoned jewel surrounded by beautiful parkland and villages and distinguished by one of the finest water gardens in England which now has a 300ft fountain, the tallest gravity fountain in the world. The grounds are now the perfect setting for a 300ft gravity fountain - the tallest fountain in Britain and the tallest gravity fountain in the world. Sudeley Castle Gardens and Exhibitions, Winchcombe 01242 602308. Sudeley's fascinating history spans a thousand years. 14 acres of magnificent gardens include the organically managed Queens Garden with an abundance of roses and the intricate topiary of the Knot Garden. The Pheasantry houses a collection of rare birds from around the world. Connoisseur Tours of the private apartments are available some weekdays. Open March - October. Distance from Bibury- approximately 41 minutes.

Tewkesbury Medieval Festival, Tewkesbury. Annual battle re-enactment and fair held in July to help recreate the battle of Tewkesbury of 1471. Distance from Bibury- approximately 53 minutes.

Trout: Bibury Trout Farm, Bibury 01285 740215. Bibury Trout Farm is a working trout farm and is one of Britain  oldest trout farms. Bibury Trout Farm was founded in 1902, by the naturalist Arthur Severn, to stock the local rivers and streams with the native Brown Trout. The trout farm now covers 15 acres in Bibury. Open daily except Christmas Day.  Distance from Bibury- approximately 6 minutes on foot.

Village Fetes. These are great traditional days in the English countryside held at different villages throughout the Summer months with plenty to do for the children, dog shows and stalls selling homemade treats, bric a brac, cakes and preserves and books. August Bank Holiday Monday sees the famous Football in the River in Bourton on the Water.

Walks, Winchcombe Walks, Winchcombe. Tourist Info Centre 01242 602925. A walking centre for all seasons, Winchcombe has 5 long distance trails. FREE Admission. Distance from Bibury- approximately 43 minutes.

Warwick Castle, Warwick  01926 495 421. Warwick Castle is a medieval castle in Warwick, the county town of Warwickshire. It sits on a bend on the River Avon. The castle was built by William the Conqueror in 1068 within or adjacent to the Anglo-Saxon burgh of Warwick. Open daily from 10am, except Christmas Day..Distance from Bibury- approximately 1hr 15 minutes.

Wharf House Visitor Centre, Gloucester 01452 332 900. The centre offers the opportunity to learn about the Canal basin and River we are surrounded by. They also stock local produce that they use in their Restaurant and Rooms as well as supporting local craftsmen and artists. Examples of their work are on display and for sale at The Wharf House. Distance from Bibury- approximately 50 minutes.

William Morris: Kelmscott Manor, Lechalde 01367 252486. Kelmscott Manor was the country home of William Morris- poet, craftsmen and socialist from 1871 to his death in 1896. The house contains a collection of the processions and Morris and his associates including furniture, textiles, carpets and ceramics. Open April to Oct.  Distance from Bibury- approximately 19 minutes.

World of Mechanical Music, Northleach 01451 860181, A living museum of the various kinds of self playing musical instruments which were in the home before regular broadcasting started up in 1924.
